It can be very difficult for a girl to grow up and mature into womanhood without the nurturing presence and consistency of a father in her life. In this piece, Cydney explores the psychological and emotional effects of a father’s absence from the household. The journey of pain and forgiveness are realized and emoted subsequently, by Cydney addressing the actions of a custodial mother's persistence to fill the void, never belittling the absent father but encouraging the relationship.
Get Me Out was choreographed by Cydney Hill for her junior year project in the Dance and Choreography Department at VCU. The concept of this piece was inspired by the movie Saw featuring dancers trying to escape an unknown room.
